fan favorite revenge Thai Drama, Waves of Life (Kluen Cheewit)

As we became passionate fans of lakorns, we discovered the different genres that make these drama series so captivating. The very first TV series that got us hooked into the world of Thai dramas was a thrilling revenge Thai drama, sparking our love for this unique and exciting storytelling.

Back in 2019, more and more K-netizens became hooked on Thai dramas, also known as lakorn (lakhon) in Thailand. With the growing demand, online streaming sites began uploading more Thai dramas to their libraries. When we first started watching in 2017, Thai Dramas with English subtitles were much harder to find. Most streaming platforms were dominated by Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean dramas, with only a few Thai dramas available.

Big Thanks to Facebook Thai Drama Videos

It all started when we stumbled upon an intriguing drama clip on Facebook. It was a scene from the revenge Thai drama Kluen Cheewit (Waves of Life). The first thing that caught our attention was the stunning visuals of the lead actors, Mark Prin and Yaya Sperbund. Yaya’s beauty is truly the definition of a face card that never declines! Their on-screen chemistry was absolutely electrifying. But beyond that, the scene itself was intense and thought-provoking. In it, the male lead breaks into the female lead’s condo, catching her off guard. Shocked, she wonders, "How the hll did this guy know my password?"* She was trying to avoid him, yet he was determined to get close to her. The tension in that moment was undeniable, and we were instantly hooked.

Curious, we scrolled through the comments, hoping to find the title of the drama. That’s when we discovered it was Kluen Cheewit. Without hesitation, we searched for it online and were thrilled to find the entire series on YouTube with English subtitles. From that moment on, we were completely drawn into the world of lakorns, watching episode after episode with ease.

Plot of the Revenge Thai Drama

Kluen Cheewit, also known as Life’s Waves or Waves of Life, had a story that immediately caught my attention. It followed Jeerawat (Jee), a stunningly beautiful and talented celebrity played by Thai superstar Yaya Sperbund. At the peak of her career, she was adored by many but also surrounded by scandalous rumors. Despite the controversies, Jee was a strong and tenacious woman who didn’t let the gossip shake her. She carried herself with confidence, refusing to be affected by the noise around her.

The turning point of the story happened when Jee’s lustful stepfather, who had been eyeing her for a long time, saw an opportunity to take advantage of her. He cornered her in a parking lot, ordering his men to seize and drug her. Though they managed to drug her, Jee fought back fiercely and managed to escape.

Dazed and desperate, she ran to her car and drove away. But as the drug started to take effect, her vision blurred, and her consciousness began to fade. Struggling to stay in control, she accidentally hit a woman who was waiting for a taxi on the roadside.

Panicked, Jee stopped the car and rushed to check on the injured woman, who was unconscious and bleeding. She called out to her, trying to wake her up, but the dizziness overwhelmed her, and she soon lost consciousness as well.

Unbeknownst to her, the victim had been on a call with her boyfriend at the time of the accident. The phone, still connected to the call, lay on the ground. On the other end, her boyfriend, Sathit, heard everything. His heart pounded as he sensed something terrible had happened.

Before anyone else could arrive, Jee’s team found her and quickly took her back to her condo, covering up the incident. When she woke up the next morning, she had no recollection of what had happened. Her team, desperate to protect her, hid the truth from her.

Meanwhile, the victim was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries. Sathit, played by the handsome Thai actor Mark Prin, was shattered. He and his fiancée had been planning a future together, only for his dreams to be cruelly ripped away. As a lawyer, he vowed to seek justice. Though he didn't know who the culprit was, he had heard a woman’s voice over the phone, and he was determined to find her.

His investigation eventually led him to Jee. While her team had hidden the truth from her, she later discovered that she was responsible for the woman’s death. Overcome with guilt, she wanted to atone, but as a famous celebrity with a powerful stepfather, she was able to clear her name legally.

But Sathit wasn’t about to let it go. He despised Jee for walking free while his fiancée lay lifeless. Fueled by anger and grief, he vowed to make her suffer. He followed her, investigated her every move, and got close to her—all in the name of revenge. But as he continued to stalk her, he began to see a different side of her. And that’s where the story truly takes off. You’ll have to watch for yourself to see how everything unfolds in the end.

Our Thoughts on Kluen Cheewit

We were completely amazed by the plot. We remember thinking, "How could they possibly make these two fall in love? She literally killed his fiancée—even if it was an accident!" But this revenge lakorn did not disappoint. It was beautifully written in a way that made their love story feel believable, without forcing it to happen. And the chemistry? Absolutely sizzling! The tension between the main leads was so gripping that every scene between them was a pleasure to watch. Their characters complemented each other so well, and their stunning visuals only added to their undeniable on-screen chemistry.

We loved it so much that we even rewatched it during our trip to Bangkok in 2018. While on vacation, we recommended it to some friends, and one of them got instantly hooked—proof of just how good it was! We didn’t mind rewatching it at all because the story was just that compelling.

It became one of the top Thai dramas on our must-watch list, and we even featured it in a video recommendation for online streaming. Watching lakorns was a refreshing change from the usual Chinese and Korean dramas (K-dramas). Plus, for our first-ever Thai drama, Kluen Cheewit set the bar high. And while there are even crazier Thai drama plots out there, this one remains a standout for us.

Watching Thai Dramas Now

Before, finding Thai dramas with English subtitles online was a real challenge. Most of the available ones came from Channel 3, OneHD, and GMMTV, while dramas from Channel 7 (Ch7) were the hardest to find—even though they had some of the best series back then. Over time, more subbers began translating Thai dramas into English, including those from Ch7, making it easier for international fans to watch.

However, with stricter copyright laws, many free streaming sites have been shut down. This could be due to the rise of paid or subscription-based streaming services, which now offer a more official way to watch. Still, when it comes to Thai dramas, some of the best lakorns were produced years ago. We can only hope that these streaming platforms start adding more Thai series, especially the older classics from 2007 to 2020. We would gladly pay that monthly subscription!
