It’s a new year again! New upcoming Thai dramas and lakorns are on their way to getting released this 2020. Among those listed in this article, one has already started airing this week.
If you are a die-hard lakorn fan, you might be as excited as I do. If you are new to Thai Lakorns, feel free to check these dramas out. I say excited because Koo Jins, or love teams, are finally reuniting! Yes! You heard it right. Your favorite Koo Jins are reuniting in these new dramas. There’s a reason why these Thai actors and actresses are paired again, right?!
So, let’s get right to it…
New and Upcoming Thai Dramas for 2020
The Frog Prince
This is a Thai remake of the popular Taiwanese drama, The Prince Who Turns into a Frog, and will feature the infamous on screen couple, Son Yuke and Vill Wannarot. This will be their 5th lakorn together as they have worked together 4 times in the past.
This SonVill, or VillSon, Koo Jin reunites after 2 years! Yey! Outside Thailand, Vill and Son are quite famous in China and similar countries. It only makes sense why they were chosen to play the lead roles for this popular Frog Prince drama remake.
This lakorn is a romantic comedy and is set to air in GMM one channel. Airing schedule hasn’t been announced yet, but they started shooting the Thai drama already. It is expected to air this year.
Roy Leh Marnya (Hundred of Tricks)
Pope Thanawat and Bella Ranee Campen reunite in this modern drama, Roy Leh Marnya. They finally crossed over from that infamous historical drama, Buppesannivas / Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat (Love Destiny).
Pope and Bella’s pairing success was so big that it didn’t take that long before the two got to work together again. And I don’t mind at all. Their first drama was a historical one, and I was always thrilled to see them in a modern drama. Finally, it’s here!
Hundred of Tricks is a drama and romance lakorn. I expect it to have a little bit of comedy as well since it’s Bella. There should be some comedic scenes in there, at least a few. Of course, it will air on Channel 3 (Ch3). They haven’t released an official airing schedule yet, but it is expected to be released this year. They have released a trailer last year. I thought it was supposed to air last year, 2019, since they’ve already released the trailer. But, it should be out this year.
Sapai Import (In Law Import)
Forgive me for being a bit biased here, but I am just a huge Min Pechaya fan and I just can’t help but be ecstatic about her pairing with this really handsome actor, Mik Thongraya. I first saw Mik in the Thai drama, Unwilling Bride, which was a romantic comedy. He was quite good in romance dramas and I thought it would be a dream to pair him with Min. And sometime last year, I got the news that they started shooting for this romantic comedy drama, Sapai Import. What a dream come true!
Min and Mik Koo Jin is definitely my dream on screen couple! Weeee! I can’t wait to watch this drama. It is actually their first drama together, if I’m not mistaken. I hope it becomes a big success so we can watch them again in future Thai dramas.
There had not been enough information about this drama before unlike the other ones in the list. But, as of this writing, a synopsis has finally been released. It seems like this is a contract marriage Thai Drama. Oh yeah! Am loving this.
So, the story is that Min plays a spoiled brat who graduated from England, but when she came home, her family was in debt. Mik plays an heir to a family who owns a very famous farm. As his grandpa was dying, he requested for him to marry and give birth before he could become the next successor of their farm. His mom really liked Min like her own daughter, so she was chosen to be his wife. But both Min and Mik rejected the idea until his mom told them she was dying. Min was in debt to her after she paid off their family’s debt, so she finally agreed. However, the two had really different lifestyles and they didn’t love each other, so they ended up making a pact to pretend as a married couple for 6 months.
Woah. That was interesting. I must admit that the plot is not something new especially if you have watched a lot of contract marriage or forced marriage Thai dramas. But since it stars Mik and Min, it is something I would definitely be excited to watch!
Sapai Import will air on Channel 7 (Ch7), obviously. And the good news is that is has already started airing. It premiered last January 28, 2020. We’ll see which online streaming site can upload this Lakorn with English Subtitles. It might take some time before we get to watch an episode with subtitles. But anyway, let’s look forward to this drama.
Song Sanaeha (Two Loves)
If you loved the Thai drama, When a Man Loves a Woman, you should be excited to hear that Kimberley Anne Woltemas and James Ma are reuniting as on screen couple on this new drama, Song Sanaeha.
After 4 years, we can watch this couple on TV again! It’s actually not just the two of them as the antagonist actress from When a Man Loves a Woman is also in this new drama as well. I’m not sure which character she portrays as Kim will play two characters (twins). As usual, there should be a good and a bad twin.
I really love Kim and James chemistry and I am so excited to finally look forward to watching this couple again on screen. They have started shooting since last year and this drama should be expected to air this year on Channel 3 (Ch3).
Except for Sapai Import, you can find synopsis and more details about the dramas discussed in the video above. Find similar videos on our video directory as well.
On Screen Couple I am Dying to Watch Again
With these Koo Jins reuniting, I have been trying to get scoops on any possible new Thai drama that would feature Mark Prin and Yaya Sperbund. But, so far, nothing.
It has been more than 2 years, going 3, since Kluen Cheewit, for Christ sake! Pair them again, Ch3! I strongly believe that their first Thai drama was NOT a flop. Why not put them together in a new lakorn? Come on!
Even Mario Maurer and Kimberley are rumored to pair up again in a new lakorn after the success of Thong Aek, the Pharmacist of Chaloang.
Please Channel 3, give us another Mark and Yaya Thai Drama. Who’s with me?
