I am thrilled to share another must watch Thai Lakorn to all of you guys. And this time, it is about a high rated forced marriage Thai drama. I am so excited when I first watched it and I felt the same level of excitement towards the end of the story. Thank God I took the chance to finally view this drama!
Forced Marriage Thai Drama
So, apparently, a forced marriage doesn’t necessarily mean a contract marriage, although most contract marriages may be a forced one. The thing with this Thai Lakorn is that the heroine is totally forced to marry the guy. Usually, in contract marriage Thai dramas, both parties get to benefit from it, right? But in this case, the only benefit the poor heroine had was the benefit of the doubt she gave on the guy in order to survive the whole process she had to go through.
What the Lakorn is About
Let’s get right to it. The title of the forced marriage Thai drama is Maturot Lohgan, or Gentleman Thief. This is part 2 of the series, Suparburoot Jorm Jon, which tells a story about twins who were separated from birth and raised differently, with one, a soldier, and the other, a bandit.
The part one of the series is the story of the soldier twin, while part two is the story of the bandit twin. I chose Maturot Lohgan primarily because I initially thought the male and female leads had an interesting chemistry. I had seen very short clips in the past as well as photos from the drama and I thought I’d bookmark it.
Okay, truth be told, I was still drooling over Mik Thongraya in Unwilling Bride and didn’t want to spoil that by watching a Mike Pattaradet drama. And also, I was momentarily invested at Mik and Pooklook onscreen couple in Unwilling Bride and I wasn’t really a fan of Pooklook’s closeness with Mike. Although the two had it going for years and I came in late as my love for Lakorns only started back in 2017, and most of the Thai dramas I was watching back then was from Channel 3 and OneHD.
Anyway, so much for that, let’s go back to Maturot Lohgan. It tells a story about a legendary bandit who, by the way, wanted to study and read books as a child but was forced to become a bandit. He was envisioned to be the best bandit in their land.
The female lead, or the heroine, was an only daughter to an aristocrat family. She was only 17 years old (in the drama) but her mom forced her to get married to a man from a noble family as well. She didn’t want to marry someone she didn’t love and she still wanted to enjoy her youth, but even her dad couldn’t stop her mom’s stubbornness.
The lead bandit would coincidentally meet his heroine, the female lead at a bus ride. It was a funny encounter. Both were friendly and playful with each other, but it all changed when she learned who he really was.
The heroine’s fiancé was a police Lieutenant. Apparently, the bandits and the police had a long time rivalry. The male lead would kidnap the heroine and end up in the bandit’s magically protected nest.
This lakorn, by the way, has a mix of fantasy. You are going to see supernatural casting of spells and the like right from the very first episode.
The lead bandit would get the heroine as his price. He was tasked to marry her and produce a baby within a year. That was sort of their revenge against the Lieutenant who was giving them a headache.
The heroine would beg him to postpone the wedding. He actually asked his dad to postpone it but his dad would threaten him to give her to his nasty older brother if he could not do the task. The good bandit could not afford to hand such an innocent beautiful woman to his rapist brother, so he had to agree with the wedding as planned.
The heroine would cry her heart out, but she was already held captive in the bandit’s nest, which was situated in a secret village no outsider, even the police, had ever gone to.

Thai Drama Channel and Where to Watch
Maturot Lohgan was aired in Channel 7 last year 2019 until November. It’s actually quite a challenge to find English subbed Thai dramas from CH7. If you’re not familiar with this channel, some of the famous actors and actresses they have include Min Pechaya, Weir Sukollawat, Aum Patcharapa, Mik Thongraya, and Mike Pattaradet.
Not a lot of streaming sites out there upload Thai dramas from Channel 7. I was glad to find MUSE, though they did not sub this lakorn. It was a pity, but then big thanks to nekomeowmeow for subbing this drama in English. You're welcome! And, oh, BTW, I am not paid to advertise their websites. The people behind these English subbing sites are very hard working. Thanks to them, international fans like us are able to watch Thai dramas with English subtitles.
My Personal Thoughts about the Drama
First off, I loved the chemistry of Mike Pattaradet and Mookda Narinrak. It seems like Mook is a new actress who started her acting career in Ch7, with her main lead role back in 2017. I was worried CH7 was losing leading ladies as most of the popular ones in their 30s already, while other channels like Ch3 still have a lot of younger actresses (Yaya, Kim, and Bella are still in their 20s though Kim and Bella are approaching their late 20s already). The future is bright for CH7. Yeah!
So, back at it, the chemistry of the main leads was lit! I think this was one of the reasons why Maturot Lohgan was a big success. Aside from them really looking great together, they were very playful as well. Their sweet, romantic, and kissing scenes were all natural. They didn’t try too hard, to be honest. Mike’s character wasn’t too abusive. He was very protective while keeping his wall up against his very beautiful heroine. Mook was really good in portraying a naïve 17-year old girl. She was sweet but strong and smart as well. It was funny how badly she would resist him every time, but would always end up falling for it. The thing that she said at the end of the finale episode, just.... Hahah! Oooops! Spoiler alert!
Though this was also a fantasy series, their love story was somehow natural and not forced like a typical average drama. They had a lot of hilarious scenes as well. They could definitely pair up again in a romantic comedy lakorn.
The drama did not revolve on the romance alone. The plot was actually pretty interesting, especially with the mystery behind Mike’s character. There were a lot of actions scenes – hand combat, gun fights.
Mike was too flexible with his fight, dramatic, and romantic scenes. He could really pass as an action star, not to mention how insanely good looking he is. Mook on the other hand is so petite, but she fitted pretty well with the character of the heroine. I thought she was quite strong and portrayed the character pretty well. What I liked the most was that she was too pretty but wasn’t trying too hard to look pretty most of the time. She wasn’t too princess-ish. She naturally blended with the villagers. They didn’t have to put make up on to make her look poor when she transitioned from the rich daughter to the bandit’s wife. I think less make up did the trick.
You would definitely get hooked to this forced Thai marriage drama. It started really well and ended on a high note as well. The last 4 episodes were dope! I liked that they didn’t have to put everything at the very last episode. It was a roller coaster ride of romance, action, thriller, fantasy, and comedy. Maturot Lohgan was my first Forced Marriage Thai drama and is currently my favorite even among the contract marriage dramas.
