Must Watch 2020 Hit Ongoing Turkish Drama series – Sen Cal Kapimi

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

Sen Cal Kapimi Hande and Kerem

This is definitely not the first Turkish Drama we’ve seen, but this is the first one we totally love to share to all of you guys. If you are new to Turkish drama, you are in for a treat! And yeah, you are welcome!

And so, the hottest Turkish drama, Sen Cal Kapimi or You Knock on My Door, is bringing the house down. It ranked first in, at least, seven straight weeks in its timeslot.

Based on a previous experience with a Turkish drama, which we ultimately dropped, we were a bit hesitant on this one. BUT, thank God we did try it out. It is, without a doubt, worth it.

Drama Series Details

As the title was already mentioned, this Turkish drama series premiered in August of this year on Fox Turkey. The genre is romantic comedy, so if you are into that this is perfect for you!

An episode runs for at least 2 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes at most. An episode of Turkish dramas are quite lengthy as compared to Thai Dramas or Kdramas. This is a hit and top rated in Turkey.

The Main Leads

Hande Ercel and Kerem Bursin

One of the reasons this is such a huge hit is the chemistry of the main leads, the ruggedly handsome, Kerem Bursin, and, the gorgeous beauty, Hande Ercel. This onscreen couple is all visual goals, like, look at that undeniably exquisite aesthetic.

Hande is so beautiful, charming, enchanting, and fun. Kerem, on the other hand, is so good looking, manly, and carries himself so well. They are, without a doubt, a certified OTP. And the fans are gushing about them and the series.

These two just could not get a break from those rumors that they are dating. Both of them are single, btw, which makes this onscreen couple more interesting as the fans’ illusion of bringing them two together for real is a possibility. For PR, it actually works for them as the fans are raving about their series and it keeps on getting higher ratings.

What’s crazier is that rumor has it that Hande got dumped by her boyfriend a week before their marriage (this year) because of a scene in this series. Apparently, her beau got jealous of her leading man. Not sure if there’s any truth to that at all, although the two are officially no longer together.

No matter what, the drama's high rating is a testament to how effective their onscreen chemistry is. Let’s give their personal lives up to them and just enjoy the series.

Plot of the Story

This series tells a story of a smart girl, Eda Yildiz, who had big dreams for herself. She is an architectural landscape student who dreamed to get that coveted university diploma and become a professional in her line of work.

But all of her dreams were shattered as her scholarship was cancelled all of a sudden. And she ended up as a florist, working for her aunt’s flower shop. And she blamed it all on one man – Serkan Bolat.

Serkan, a renowned architect and most sought after bachelor, ran an architectural business that also gave scholarship to deserving students.

He would offer Eda an Engagement Contract that is for her to pretend as his girlfriend and fiancé for two months. In return, he would pay for her schooling so she could finish her last year.

We won’t be posting much of the synopsis here as we have already made a video about this on our official Youtube Channel. Check the video below.

Reviews

What to Expect on Turkish Dramas

First off, we would like to tell you a few things about what to expect in Turkish dramas. The runtime can go to as long as 2 hours and 30 minutes. There are episodes that are 2 hours, almost 2 hours, and 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The transition from events are not that fast as compared to what you might have been accustomed to watching if you are new. Like, if there’s a party scene, it could take 15 to 20 minutes with all of those dialogues. This is part of the reason why we dropped the first Turkish drama we watched, despite the fact that the leads were awesome as well.

But, with this series, it didn’t matter at all, because things were progressing. This is what we love about this. They were not fixated on scenes and actually stuck to their storyline. They made every episode interesting, like there’s always something going to happen.

The Chemistry

We have already mentioned about this at the start of this article. We’ll just add a bit from the drama.

So, these two are complete opposites. He is uptight. She is outgoing. His a workaholic. She knows how to have fun.

Eda hated him so much, like he’d be the last guy she’d want to set her eyes on. Serkan is just aggravated by her, he doesn’t really have that hate. The hate isn’t mutual, but not liking each other is.

It was fun to watch how they try to convince everyone that they were in love, especially on Eda’s end as she was vocal about hating the guy. It was even crazier when, at times, she purposely messes up with his mind. She knew she’s one heck of an attractive woman and Serkan is also just a guy. LOL!

They really didn’t have to try that hard. Just by looking at each other, the tension just naturally builds up. Turkish dramas has its own cinematic, or dramatic, way of zooming into that and pulling off a scene that exudes a romantic vibe in it.

We can go on and on, but, really, you can watch it yourself.

The Story

The plot of the story is interesting, especially if you actually watched our full synopsis and reviews in the video above. The pretending to be a couple, the back and forth bicker, and the subtle flirting were all fun and entertaining to watch.

However, there is more depth to the story than what it seems like. The backstory of Serkan and his family was interesting, especially on the part of his mom, which was quite touching. The mystery behind Eda’s life is something to look forward to.

And we get to see that as the story went on. You’ll be surprised with the revelations along the way, like you didn’t see that coming, as the events were running smooth and fluid.

What’s more interesting is they throw bombs at the end of each episode. There is always that freaking cliff-hanger. It makes you anticipate the next episodes!

The Characters

We love that the characters in this drama are adorable to watch. The plot and the main leads are not the only bright spots. Other characters like Eda’s three girlfriends, Serkan’s mom, and Serkan’s co-workers and/or subordinates were fun to watch as well. Even if the scenes took a break from the main leads, the fun never stops.
