[UPDATED] Our Top 11 Favorite Thai Drama Actresses

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

UPDATED: From 10 to 11. More info added.

This is another blog post on the Thai drama category. And this time, we will be talking about our top 10 favorite Thai drama actresses. Please be warned that this only our own opinion and we based this list not solely looking at the aesthetic (physical attribute, if you may say), but their overall skill as a drama actress.

If you are already a fan of Thai dramas, you must have a few in mind already. I hope, at least, some of them are in this list. If not, feel free to leave your comment at the end of this blog posting.

And so, let’s get right to it.

11) Vill Wannarot (OneHD, GMM)

lnstagram: villwannarot

Thai Actress Vill Wannarot

Vill Wannarot is simply a stunner, and she’s definitely not just a pretty face with the long list of lakorns she has starred on. With her angelic face, she can play an antagonist role like in Sud Sai Pan where she played twins with opposite characters.

We think comedy isn’t her strongest suit but she did quite a number of romantic comedies already, like Rak Fun Thalob. Not sure, maybe she’s just too beautiful in the camera. The Charming Stepmom is done, but the Thai remake of the Frog Prince is yet to be released. And it seems to be another drama, romance, and comedy lakorn. It's adorable how she tries her best with this genre though.

She's actually entertaining to watch anyway. Without a doubt, she’s already good with drama and romance. Her period romance drama, Tae Pang Korn, Past Life, with Son Yuke is such a recommended drama to watch!

UPDATE:

So, after watching the romance, comedy, revenge drama, Rang Mai Hua Jai Derm, Vill isn’t so bad with comedy at all. First time we’ve watched her do it so well. She was fun without forcing it.

10) Mookda Narinrak (CH7)

Instagram: narinnarinrak

CH7 Thai Actress Mookda Narinrak

Baby Mookda Narinrak, she’s probably the youngest in this list, is at number 8. She’s quite famous on the 2018 lakorn, Maturot Lohgan, alongside the handsome Mike Pattaradet. This young Channel 7 actress is not just a pretty face. She’s an all-rounder who can do drama, romance, and comedy.

Even with light makeup on, when she was already captured at the bandit’s nest, she still looked gorgeous. And she seemed to really not care about how she looked, but was more focused on portraying her role. Of course, it’s impossible not to be comfortable with your own skin if you’re that good looking.

She’ll have more projects in the future, for sure, and we hope to see more of her in romantic comedy lakorns. She’s adorably playful, sweet, but fierce at the same time. And she’s not, at all, awkward in her romantic scenes. More rak lakorn (Love/Romance Drama) for Mook please!

UPDATE: Mook will reunite with Mike in a new romantic comedy lakorn!!!

UPDATE: Mook and Mike's New Lakorn is now airing.

Mookda is fearless and bold!

9) Pooklook Fonthip (PPTV, Former Ch7)

Instagram: pooklook_fonthip

Thai Actress Pooklook Fonthip

For international fans, she’s likely known in her contract marriage Thai drama, Unwilling Bride or When I Marry a stranger, alongside the dashingly gorgeous Mik Thongraya. She used to be with Channel 7 for a long time and transferred to a newly launched big Thai channel back at the start of 2019.

Fans were probably hoping for another Mik and Pooklook lakorn, but after her transfer, the possibility went from downhill. But, anyway, we hope the best for Pooklook and her incoming projects.

Pooklook Fonthip is a perfect fit for a romance drama. She can add a little bit of comedy as well. Her forte seems to be more on drama though. She’s a natural and doesn’t seem to force her emotion. She’s that Thai actress who doesn’t hold back in her romantic scenes. If you have seen Unwilling Bride, you probably knew that already.

8) Esther Supreeleela (OneHD, GMM)

Instagram: esthersupree

Thai Actress Esther Supreeleela

Most of the earliest lakorns we have watched featured this beautiful fun lady. If you see her act, she seems like a young innocent girl, and she’s not that young though. She seems to have a very bright personality on TV. Some of her best lakorns are Leh Ratree and Ngao Asoke.

She definitely is an all-rounder too, but seems to be more comfortable with romance and comedy. She probably attracts more of the youth audience, with her lakorns like The Ugly Duckling Series, The Handsome Cowboy Series, You're My Destiny, to name a few. The best thing about her is that she’s very fun and refreshing to watch and is very comfortable with her romantic scenes if needed, ‘cause she’s very sweet and innocent to look at and then when she goes to do kissing scenes and does it well.

7) Baifern Pimchanok (OneHD, GMM, Former Ch7)

Instagram: baifernbah

Thai Actress Baifern Pimchanok

This cute and gorgeous lady is widely known internationally with her infamous movie, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, alongside the cutie, Mario Maurer. Baifern Pimchanok hasn’t limited herself to doing cutesy romantic comedies, as she has done good dramas and performed really well, like her melodrama, The Fallen Leaf.

But she has been very successful and seems to be quite comfortable doing romance dramas or romantic comedies like The Devil Angel and The Sand Princess. GMM or OneHD, though they have a lot of youth oriented lakorns, aren’t that reserved when it comes to romantic or kissing scenes. And when it comes to such scenes, Baifern is just a pro. She’s probably the best, most comfortable, and most natural in this list (or maybe not with Mookda around LOL). If you want to watch light dramas with a dose of romance and comedy, go watch Baifern’s dramas, or movies.

UPDATE:

So, Baifern was formerly with Ch7. The quality of Ch7’s actresses is quite impressive. Most of them are all around or versatile actresses. Also, she's reuniting with Nine Thanapat (Friendzone) for an upcoming TV drama for Ch3.

6) Yaya Sperbund (CH3)

Instagram: urassayas

CH3 Thai Superstar Yaya Sperbund

Hold on! Wait! No hate please! This stunning Thai superstar, without a doubt, is the most famous Thai actress these days both local and international. Our first Thai drama was Kluen Cheewit, with her and Mark Prin, and we instantly fell for this girl. Btw, Kluen Cheewit is now available on Netflix.

This My Crown Princess heroine is insanely beautiful with or without makeup. If this list is based solely on aesthetic, she’s the hands down number one. Yaya Sperbund is just on another level. She is literally the Thai Goddess to most fans. She looks so beautiful that sometimes it can be distracting, no offense. This girl is just undeniably blessed with good looks! And she got that very charming smile as well!

Her acting is nowhere near subpar. She definitely is NOT JUST a PRETTY FACE. She does drama pretty well. We have yet to see her in a comedy. We have to go back and watch her previous lakorns to see if we can find some romantic comedies there. UPDATE: Some of her dramas, which are light and have some comedy in it, she doesn't seem so bad. But, yes the but is coming, in our opinion, so far, comedy isn't her strong suit. But it's not like she'll stop acting in lakorns. We'll see in her future projects.

On one hand, she’s definitely on point when it comes to romance dramas, but it would be interesting to see her in a contract marriage or slap-kiss (not the classic, more of the modern light slap-kiss) type of lakorn.

Speaking of comedy, she seems to be really good at delivering her lines with sarcastic humor in serious moments (scenes). She doesn't have to look funny at all, the content of her line is funny enough and the way she delivers it makes it more hilarious. She's not crazy as Kimmy, Min, Baifern, or Bella when it comes to comedy, but she definitely does it in her own (effin) way. Swag!

The thing about her, though, is that she’s been paired with Nadech Kugimiya for almost all of her Lakorns. It would be awesome to see how she does with other actors. More lakorns with Mark Prin please! Ooops!

And Nadech is even worse, Yaya seems to be paired more with other guys than Nadech with other girls. Can you imagine, Nadech and Bella have never worked in a lakorn together?! Ch3, what's up with that?!

UPDATE:

Yaya has an upcoming lakorn alongside Mario Maurer under Ms. Anne Thongprasom's Thong Entertainment. And she has a historical drama with Nadech for Lai Kinaree.

5) Kimberley Anne Woltemas (CH3)

Instagram: kimmy_kimberley

Ch3 Thai superstar Kimberley Anne Woltemas

Another big name from Channel 3, is Kimberley Anne Woltemas. She has quite a lot of lakorns and she was mostly paired with her current beau, Mark Prin. But her Thai dramas with other actors like Marior Maurer, James Ma, and James Jirayu were all good!

A few of her famous lakorns include Thong Aek, the Pharmacist of Chalolang and When a Man Loves a Woman. She has proven to be an all-around actress, from drama, comedy, to romance. She’s very beautiful but she portrays her character so well and doesn’t seem to care much about how she’d look so long as she can deliver. She can play a sweet, fierce, dramatic, or funny character. Kimmy is just adorable. She can be terribly annoying and sweet at the same time. Let's look forward to Song Sanaeha where she'll play twins, a good and a bad one.

The best part is that you can pair her with anyone. Like mentioned earlier, she had quite a lot of good dramas outside being paired with Mark Prin. I personally think she had an awesome on screen chemistry with Nadech in the Love-Hate, Arranged Marriage Lakorn, Raeng Pradtanah!

UPDATE:

We forgot to mention that Kimmy holds one of the highest rated TV Dramas, Thong Aek, the Pharmacist of Chalolang, which was released in 2019.

Out of the top actresses of Ch3, for romantic scenes, Kimmy would probably come out on top as she’s a natural. She seems bold to go for it and doesn’t look awkward in those scenes as well.

4) Taew Nataphon (CH3)

Instagram: taewaew_natapohn

Ch3 Thai Superstar actress Taew Nataphon Tameeruks

Another beautiful pro actress from Channel 3, Taew Nataphon! We have all praises for this girl! It is pretty close between number 4 and 3.

Taew, especially for international fans, is mostly known for her portrayal as Nok (Muanchanok) in the popular Slap-Kiss/Arranged Marriage Thai Drama, Game Sanaeha, alongside the cutie, James Jirayu. If you haven’t watched it, you better do!

She is the most experienced Thai actress in this list, being the one who debuted the earliest. It just makes sense how good of an actress she is. Her chemistry with James Jirayu was a revelation, as most fans always saw Bella Campen and James’ as the perfect pair. But she can be paired to anyone and deliver with ease. Our favorite on-screen partner for Taew is Nadech! Their chemistry is lit!

She is a top all-around type of actress. She’s very flexible, not just her acting skills but her look as well. She can play sweet, nice, loving, annoying, fierce, bad ass, funny, dramatic, and etc. The way she carries herself with confidence when portraying a fierce woman, the way she annoys people when needs to play unreasonable, the way she tones it down for a serene scene, the way she gathers and displays her emotion for a dramatic scene, her subtle comic timing and facial reactions, her spontaneous shift from one emotion to another, they are all ON POINT! And she’s not awkward with romantic scenes! Yeah! This girl is a natural.

Among the actresses listed here, she probably has the most oozing sexual appeal, and she has a very beautiful smile with those cute smiling eyes. Have you seen her poster in her upcoming lakorn with Mark prin?! Just….! Let’s all wait for it!

UPDATE:

We have previously ranked Taew at number 2 in our list. Sorry Taew. After Roy Leh Marnya, Bella definitely takes over her spot. The only hold up we’ve had with Bella was her romantic scenes. Bella seemed to have gotten comfortable at it (after working with Pope for the second time).

And it’s not like Taew had more romantic scenes either. It’s just that her sexual appeal sort of like intensifies the tension between her and her leading man, so an intimate scene doesn’t have to show that much. Plus, Ch3 isn’t really up for it with their Nang’eks (heroines, female leads).

Taew also holds one of the highest rated TV dramas under her belt, Nakee, which was released in 2016.

After Mark Prin (the dramas has yet to air), she'll reunite with Nadech in a new drama. No details about that yet.

3) Bella Ranee Campen (CH3)

Instagram: bellacampen

Ch3 Thai Superstar actress Bella Ranee Campen

When it comes to pure comedy, Bella Ranee Campen, is on another level. She is best known in the highest rated Thai Drama, Love Destiny or Bpooh Phae Saniwaat. She was also quite funny in the romantic comedy Lakorn, Wimarn Mekkala. If you have watched it, you should know how hilarious this girl is.

Bella is just straight up hilarious despite her very attractive look. The way she delivers her lines, the timing, and her facial expressions are on point! And she can do drama pretty well. She has had really good previous lakorns that were mostly drama.

The only thing though is that she seems to hold herself a bit when it comes to romantic scenes. She really does great with the cute teasing scenes, but is quite reserved when it comes to intimate scenes. But it's not her fault anyway as CH3 seems to look after their Nang' eks image when it comes to romantic scenes.

UPDATE:

We definitely are going to take back what we’ve said in that last sentence above. We were wrong and Roy Leh Marnya is a testament to that. Well, for what it’s worth, this is a good development for Bella. It was surprising to see those scenes from Ch3’s top Nang’ek. We were definitely taken aback.

Plus, Bella’s adventure and comedy movie, E-Riam Sing, which was released in November 2020, was a box office hit, earning 12 Million Baht on its first day, and 100 Million in less than a week. It was supposed to be released in April 2020, but the pandemic happened.

She didn’t need to have a romantic interest to make the movie a hit. Bella is definitely one outstanding actress that’s well-loved in Thailand. Bella is that actress that the more you watch, the prettier she gets. Yaya may be more famous globally, but in Thailand, we have the impression that Bella's popularity soared past most of her peers after Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat, and she also became the most sought after actress for commercials.

Most of her Thai dramas are lit! But her biggest break is Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat, released in 2018, which now holds the highest rated drama on TV.

Out of Ch3’s top actresses (Kimmy, Yaya, Taew), Bella debuted a little later. It’s impressive how far she has gotten herself now.

2) Now Tissanart (CH7)

Instagram: now_tisanart

Now is a revelation for us. We’ve been skipping her lakorns as we felt conflicted about watching her dramas (since we have a long list, like, literally!). Thank God we finally did. She’s the female lead in the 2021 remake of Wong Wien Hua Jai, Rotation of Heart, alongside the charming and hilarious Porshe Saran.

It’s basically a no-brainer as her impressive acting skills lands straight to number two on our list, which is previously occupied by Taew and supposedly, now, by Bella, if not for Now. Nope, that wasn’t a rhyme.

We are talking about versatility in acting and not solely in drama. And we strongly believe that Now could post a threat to our number one in this list. Whatever we say here is based on what we’ve seen so far, and we know that it’s only one lakorn, but we don’t need to watch 10 of her dramas to see her potential. But we will watch more of her dramas!

And the best part is that we are not biased based on how popular she is (back in Thailand or globally) nor do we have any precedents of the parent drama of her current lakorn. How she has interpreted her role so far is quite impressive and satisfying. We couldn’t ask for more.

Well, probably, the only thing about it is that if you’ve seen the parent drama, the heroine was said to portray herself as more of a fighter, while Now in this remake sort of like yielded for the most part, though she remained resilient. The production team in both versions of the lakorns is the same, so how Now portrayed it is probably how they want to interpret the heroine’s character in this remake.

BUT THEN, the dark slap and kiss side of this lakorn has yet to come since it’s still ongoing. We spoke to soon on how much of a light drama this is. We haven’t seen the parent drama from 2009, and those who have seen it said that it was more harsh and had that horrific slap and kiss vibe, and this 2021 version is definitely light and more romantic as Porshe is warm and sweet towards Now, though he can be tough on her at times.

It's baffling how Thais, especially before based on watching older lakorns, love those barbaric slap and kiss dramas with male leads being harsh on their female leads. Pure slap and kiss dramas typically have those horrifying rape scenes, and it is NO WAY romantic at all! Please STOP ROMANTACIZING this idea. Come on, don’t mess up Now and Porshe’s romantic love story. Now has been so adorable as Bow and she has yet to face those inevitable horrifying adversities. And Porshe has been so sweet to her Nang' ek, please don't turn him into a mad dog like Weir did in the older version. Ugh!

So, moving on, her recent lakorn isn’t just a romantic comedy, nor solely a drama. It’s a mix of both, which means we get to see those two opposite sides from her.

For drama, she can be really sentimental, like you can cry with her. And it’s frustrating how pretty she still looks when crying. There’s definitely that depth of emotion. She has that melodrama feel that when she cries, you feel her pain, her sorrow, her anger. She’s so good!

For comedy, she’s pretty awesome. She has that grace not only in her movement but also in the way she talks, but when the scene demands for it, she can deliver her lines at like 100 miles per hour. And the tone swiftly changes from sweet to sarcasm. She seemed to be not overly concerned about her looks or image, ‘cause you know, in comedy, you do silly stuff and all. Hahah! Bella for one. Even Kimmy! Haha!

Now has a really good reflex at how she reacts with her partner. Her timing, body movement, and facial expressions on those comedic or comic scenes were so on point! Her banters, or bickers, with Porshe were amusing! It’s hilarious! They could definitely do a sitcom or something.

It’s unbelievable to ever come to this point and say we loved her better in a romantic comedy, just a little above Min. We’ve always adored Min, but you have got to give credit where credit is due. Now is more of our taste or preference in a rom com. And we’ll put it out there, we love Wong Wien Hua Jai better than Min’s Sapai Import, to be completely honest. But we also love Min in Ko Za Rot Zab (Spicy Flavor of Love), which pretty much means it’s not necessarily about the actress.

Nevertheless, Wong Wien Hua Jai will now be at the top of our list. It is, by far, our favorite Marriage Thai Drama among most of the others that we’ve recommended so far (Maturot Lohgan, Game Sanaeha, Lom Sorn Ruk, and more).

Shout out to the production team, Kantana! We see you! And, thank you, Ch7!

The story primarily focused on the leads who were forced to be together as early as the second episode, and how they’ve come to live with each other as a couple. Marriage Thai dramas don’t always focus on the couple and their marriage, like it’s not always the main plot, and, usually, it happens halfway of the entire series. Would love to discuss further on this one, but let’s just leave it right here for now. Ha!

But Min is very solid when it comes to drama, thus, she remains our number one. We have to watch more of Now’s lakorns to see how she fairs well on that, although we’ve seen a part of it in this lakorn. It would be nice to watch more to check if there’s more to see.

And oh, romantic scenes. We’ve been critical about it with the others, Now shouldn’t be an exemption. But she gets an easy pass. LOL! Come on guys, she’s from Ch7. Hello???? Min, Baifern (used to be Ch7), Mookda… Ring a bell?! Wong Wien Hua Jai is serving us with those scenes. Watch and see it for yourself.

1) Min Pechaya (Former CH7, Turned Freelance)

Instagram: minpechaya

Ch7 Thai Superstar actress Min Pechaya

The top of our list is one of Channel 7’s best and proven star, Min Pechaya, another flexible artist in terms of acting skills and looks. She is best known in lakorns, wherein she was paired with Weir Sukollawat. These two are basically Koo Jin (love team, her best pair), with their fans calling them WeirMin, and their lakorns were really good as well: Pin Anong, Lah Ruk Sut Kob Fah, and Koo Za Rot Zab. Currently, she’s paired with Mik Thongraya on the romantic comedy contract Marriage Lakorn, Sapai Import.

When it comes to being a pro in acting, Min’s name should be at the top of the list. Her flawless portrayal as a heroine and antagonist at the same time in her twin role in the well-received lakorn Song Naree is a testament of how good of an actress she is, and her top rated romance drama, Pin Anong, as well, which brought the emergence of the WeirMin fantasy couple. Of course, she has done a lot of good dramas in the past, wherein she showcased her top caliber acting skill.

Min is like a combination of Taew and Bella. She can be very dramatic, fierce, sweet, fun, and hilarious. And she’s got that undeniable sexual appeal as well! Min totally rocks! This is why number 1 and number 2 are pretty close.

Min is 10/10 for drama, comedy, and romance. Perhaps it boiled down to her as a little bit above when it comes to romantic comedies and romantic scenes. Ch3 is quite reserved when it comes to love scenes unlike with Ch7, so Min has more of those legit kissing scenes. She’s a pro and does it naturally on almost all angles. Go watch her lakorns with Weir, who is known to not fake his kissing scenes at all. Although I'd still take Baifern as the top on this one. Hahaha!

Being a, hands down, top all-around actress earned her the number one in our list!

UPDATE:

Min’s contract with Ch7 has ended and she decided to go freelance. She’s expected to do a drama under Ch3 after she was photographed alongside Ch3’s big boss. It’s pretty exciting, isn’t it?!

Untouchable

Probably more to come under this list. It’s just not fair to line Ms. Anne up with the above list. It would be better to compare her to her generation of actresses, but, she’s still probably going to stand out.

Instagram: Annethong

Conclusion

Just one note before we end, when we said romantic or kissing scenes, Thai dramas are not like those in other Asian dramas like Korean dramas. Their kissing scenes aren’t that rated unlike in Kdramas. But it doesn’t make their story any less.

Ch3 has a lot of amazing dramas yet they don’t really show much when it comes to intimate scenes, in fact, they have good dramas that don’t have any kissing scenes at all. Ch7 delivers more of those, but not too much, just enough for a romance drama. They just don’t seem to rely much on camera tricks to come up with those scenes, which means their scenes are more legit.

We are hoping for this list to grow! If you have anything to add on this list of top favorite Thai Drama actresses, feel free to leave a comment down below. For any violent reactions, leave a comment as well; just try to be selective with your words though.
