This is the third part of the blog series on Thai Drama Channels to watch the best dramas. You can check out the first and second parts in case you missed them.
At last, we’ve come to the final part of this series. And the last, but certainly not the least, lakorn channel where you can watch highly recommended Thai dramas is Channel 3.
Thai Drama Channel 3
Channel 3 should be the most popular among all that were mentioned in the previous articles, especially in these recent years. They not only have the most popular actors and actresses, but also the most popular Thai dramas that are already available for online streaming with English subtitles.
Popular Channel 3 Actors and Actresses
The first name that would come to mind would be Urassayas Sperbund, popularly known as Yaya. She starred in the very first Thai drama that I watched, Kluen Cheewit, alongside Mark Prin. It was such a beautiful drama which spurred my interest into watching more lakorns.
Aside from Yaya, there’s also Bella Ranee Campen who was best known in her comedic portrayal of Karakade and Kadesurang in the infamous highest rated Thai drama, Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat / Buppesannivas or Love Destiny.
And then there’s Yaya’s BFF, the gorgeous Kimberley Anne Woltemas who’s probably more known with her portrayal of Chaba in the hit Thai series, Thong Ake Mor Yah Tah Chaloang or Thong Ek the Herbal Master. They have so many other good actresses but I will just mention the top ones above.
For actors, the top on the list should be Yaya’s koo jin, Nadech Kugimiya; Kimberley’s koo jin, Mark Prin; James Ma, who was both paired to Kim and Yaya; the cutie, James Jirayu; the infamous heartthrob, Mario Maurer; and the fan favorite who captured a lot of hearts in the hit series Love Destiny, Pope Thanawat.
Best Channel 3 Thai Dramas
These are just some of the popular lakorns you can watch from Thai Drama Channel 3. The first two are definitely the best Thai dramas that were highly rated, with Love Destiny breaking all drama rating records all over Thailand and gained the solo top as the highest rated drama in Lakorn history (as of this writing).
Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat (Love Destiny)
A romantic comedy historical drama. A bad woman, who was hated by everyone, caused a royal’s maid to die. She was supposed to target her royal rival. Her betrothed, the male lead, hated her because of her bad character. He confronted her about the death incident but she denied his accusations. He wasn’t convinced so he asked his father that they perform a chant that would punish the guilty. As they performed the chant, the bad woman suffered its painful effects. She was in excruciating pain.
The heroine, who studied archeology, was a good girl who looked exactly the same as the bad woman mentioned earlier. She was kind and virtuous. One night, while she was out in the field with her buddy, the ghost of the bad woman appeared to them. Frightened, they drove back home and met a car accident.
The heroine and the bad woman met in another dimension (sort of like a purgatory). The bad woman asked the heroine to take her body and do good deeds for her so her body wouldn’t rot in hell. And then the bad woman’s dead body suddenly came to life. But, it was the heroine inside her body this time. She basically traveled 300 years back to the past as a result of the chant. She would turn the bad woman into a good one, as she naturally was, who will be loved by everyone especially her betrothed.
Thong Ake Mor Yah Tah Chaloang (Thong Ek the Herbal Master)
A hilarious historical and medical romance drama. The male lead, orphaned by his parents, grew up with his grandfather herbal master. He studied to become a herbalist but his grandpa didn’t want him to become one. They were stoned and thrown out of town after a patient died under the care of his grandpa. The grandpa didn’t want him to have the same fate like he did, so he forbade him to practice as a herbalist.
The heroine was fond of sword fates rather than staying at home and learning house chores for women. Her mother wanted to prepare her for marriage, but she would sneak out and do sword fights with his father’s men.
The male lead and the heroine first met on a night of the ghost attack. They ended up sleeping together in the forest and were caught the next morning. Her father almost cut him into pieces with his sword, but the heroine stopped him. The male lead swore that nothing about his daughter would interest him. That insult made a bad impression on her. She hated him.
But the two would come together as she needed his help to treat her sick mother. Her mother got well and, since then, she got interested into learning herbal medicine. She bugged him about it and he later succumbed to the request. But he would make things difficult so she’d give up on her own. His impression about her kept on improving the longer he spent time with her.
Piang Chai Khon Nee Mai Chai Poo Wised (When a Man Loves a Woman)
A romance, forced marriage, or contract marriage drama. The heroine was a no non-sense all business type of woman. She was the heir to a rich businessman who owned a company that produced and distributed furniture. She didn’t date as she thought all men are after of her money. She trusted no man aside from his father and his uncle. Though cold with other people, she was very warm with her uncle. Her uncle, his father’s younger half-brother, was secretly in love with her. Everybody could see it except her.
One night, while spending some time with a male client, she was drugged but was able to swim away and escaped. The male lead, a doctor in that faraway island, would save her. He was a noble man who didn’t care about her money. She seemed to feel good about meeting such man.
But the doctor turned out to be her debtor. Apparently, her aunt loaned his mom millions, which wasn’t supposed to happen in the first place. She was furious about it and was even more discouraged when she knew that the good doctor was the debtor. Her impression of him took a hundred and eighty degrees turn. Yikes!
Her aunt would connive with the doctor’s mom to marry her to him so he could clear all his debts. Her sick father, who was under the care of the doctor, thought highly of him and actually liked the idea. She was constantly rumored to be in a relationship with her uncle, and so, to keep her reputation, the father would agree to the idea of marrying the two. He rejected it at first because he didn’t like her foul mouth and difficult attitude, which irked her even more. She never felt rejected in her whole life. But, the two would be forced to marry under certain conditions. It was basically a forced and contract marriage.
Kluen Cheewit (Waves of Life)
A romance and revenge type of drama. The heroine, a famous celebrity and model, accidentally hits the fiancé of the male lead with her car. The girl died days after. At the time, she was under the influence of the drug that her lustful stepdad forcefully injected in her. She was basically running away.
The male lead, an attorney, was talking to his fiancé when it all happened. He heard the heroine’s voice over the phone checking her fiancé out. He was so sure that the culprit was a woman.
Because the heroine had connections, she was cleared on the incident. The male lead was so furious that he swore to do his own investigation to expose her. He would stalk her around to find evidences to put her in jail. She was always surrounded with malicious rumors, so he didn’t think highly of her. But, the more he spent time with her, the more he got to know her. And, the two would actually end up having each other’s back.

Romantic Scenes
Channel 3 produces really wonderful lakorns in all genres, but, when it came to love stories and romantic scenes, do not expect too much. IMO, out of all the drama channels mentioned, this one is the most conservative. It only makes sense if they’re that protective of their talents, I mean, actors openly say shooting intimate scenes are just awkward.
But that doesn’t mean their love stories don’t have kissing scenes or whatever. They still have those but not to the extent as compared to other channels. I don’t know if you guys noticed it, but I did. But, in the end, it doesn’t really matter, crossing my fingers a bit in there hahaha, since the stories are just too wonderful to make a pass on.
I crossed my fingers a bit in there because, sometimes, I just wish there could be a bit more. I mean, just give us a little something especially if it is a romance drama. Hahaha. Anyway, that shouldn’t stop you from watching their dramas, lol. It’s not always about these scenes anyway (zipping my mouth). Love Destiny, for one, didn’t have much of it, although they did have some in the later part, but it was such a big hit.
Conclusion
GMM TV / GMM 25, OneHD 31, Channel 7, and Channel 3 were the top 4 and best Thai Drama channels I know as a non-Thai lakorn enthusiast. I noticed that there are too many local Thai channels out there, but when I started streaming online, I mostly found dramas that were produced by those 4 Thai channels mentioned. If you know one that is not listed in this article series, feel free to leave a comment down below. Or, which Thai dramas have you watched on each of the channels mentioned? You can share them too!
