This year, 2019, more and more knetizens are hooked into watching Thai dramas. In Thailand, they call it lakorn (lakhon). In fact, more online drama list streaming sites are uploading Thai dramas lately.
When we started watching back in 2017, you won’t find a lot of lakorns in most streaming sites. There were mostly Chinese, Taiwanese, or Korean Dramas, and the like.

But, it all started with this interesting drama video clip on Facebook. It was a scene from the Thai drama series, Kluen Cheewit. The first thing we noticed was that the actor, Mark Prin, and the actress, Yaya Sperbund, were so good looking. Their chemistry was so lit and on point. That particular scene was interestingly thought provoking as well. The guy breaks into the girl’s condo, surprising her. She was like, “how the h*ll did this guy know my password?” She was avoiding him, he was getting into her. There was definitely that tension in that scene.
And then there were these comments on the comment section, where you'd find the title of the drama. At that time, you could watch it on Youtube with English subtitles.
Synopsis or Plot of the Thai Drama
Kluen Cheewit, also known as Life’s Waves or Waves of Life, had quite an interesting story, I thought. It was about a stunningly beautiful celebrity, Jeerawat, played by the thai superstar Yaya Sperbund, who was at the peak of her career. Though she was at the height of her popularity, she was also surrounded with scandalous rumors. But Jee was a tenacious and strong woman. She wasn’t really affected by any rumors.
But anyway, we won’t be spoiling you that much. What happened was her lustful stepfather had long for her for quite some time. And when he thought he had his chance, he cornered her at a parking lot and ordered his men to seize her and drug her. They were able to do drug here, but she fought off their grasp and was able to escape.
She ran into her car and drove away. After a little later, while driving, the drug started to take effect and she started to feel dizzy. Her level of consciousness was dropping and her vision was failing. And then she accidentally hits a lady who was supposedly waiting for a taxi at one corner.
She stopped the car and got out to check on the lady. The lady was unconscious and bleeding. She was calling her out, trying to wake her up. She was trying to stay awake, but she later dozed off as well.
Apparently, the lady was talking over the phone when it happened, and the phone was just at the scene. She was talking to her boyfriend before she got hit. On the other line, her boyfriend was freaking out already as he felt something must have happened to her girlfriend.
Jee’s team was able to track her down. Before anyone came into the scene, Jee’s team was already there to pick up her unconscious body. They brought her back to her condo. The morning after, she could not remember anything and her team tried their best to hide it from her.
On the other hand, the victim was hospitalized but then later died. Her boyfriend, Sathit, played by the handsome thai actor, Mark Prin, was devastated. They were engaged and were planning to start on a journey together as family. Sathit was a lawyer. It was him who heard Jee’s voice over the phone. He didn’t know her, but he knew the culprit was a woman.
He would investigate about it and it led him to Jee. Though Jee’s team hid it from her, she later discovered she caused the death of the poor lady. She was remorseful, but, since she was a celebrity with a stepdad who had connections, she was able to clear her name.
But Sathit didn’t stop. He knew it was her. He hated the fact that she was still out and enjoying her freedom. He wanted revenge. He wanted her to suffer. He made his own investigation, stalking on her. As he stalked on her, that was when he got to see who she really was, and then you have to watch how things will unfold in the end.
Our Thoughts
We were pretty much amazed by the plot. I thought, “how can they make it possible for these two to fall in love with each other? I mean, though it was an accident, she killed her fiancé for Christ’s sake!” But this thai drama series did not disappoint. It was beautifully written for me, as an audience, to believe that it was possible. They did not force it whatsoever.
We even watched it again in Bangkok when we had the opportunity to visit the country back in 2018. We recommended that we watch it. One of our peers instantly got hooked as well. It was that good that we didn’t mind re-watching.
We even listed it as one of the many must watch thai dramas you can watch and stream online on the video about. It was refreshing watching Asian dramas outside Chinese or Korean dramas (Kdramas).
